1-Day Workshop: Cityscapes: Painting Architecture in the Landscape
September 12 @ 9:30 am - 3:30 pm$80
For beginning and intermediate plein air painters that want to learn to the process and best practices for painting outdoors in the city or for painting outdoors with subjects that include architecture. I will work with you individually in a hands-on, step-by-step fashion, guiding you from the start to finish of your painting. I’ll focus on aspects of the process including composition, drawing, perspective, color, value and paint handling. The class goal is that you’ll leave with confidence and knowledge to continue to develop as a plein air painter, as well as learning to broaden your potential subject matter. I’ll begin with a short demonstration painting to get the class started, followed by participants setting up and painting their own subjects. We’ll continue the day with short demonstrations at each stage of the painting process, followed by you continuing to develop your paintings.
The location is TBD closer to the event, but will be in San Francisco.
There will be a limit of 10 students in the workshop.
Materials: A materials list will be emailed to you once you’ve registered, in advance of the workshop. In addition to paints, paper and brushes, you will need to bring a portable easel. I have a couple of extra plein air easels, so if you need to borrow one, please let me know in advance.
Cost of workshop: $80. This amount is refundable in full up 2 weeks prior to the workshop.
