Painting the Plein Air Landscape in San Francisco
April 22 @ 9:30 am - 2:30 pm$80
It’s springtime…let’s get out and paint! We can wear masks and maintain social distance and enjoy a day studying value and color in plein air.
I’ll start this class doing a short value sketch demonstration on paper, in order to establish a value design in my scene. Each of you will do the same and we’ll have a value “roadmap” for our paintings.
The location will be The Great Meadow at Fort Mason in San Francisco, where we’ll have an opportunity to paint a variety of subject matter, including the Bay, Alcatraz, the cityscape and more.
The workshop is for beginning and intermediate plein air painters that want to learn the process and best practices for painting outdoors in the landscape. I’ll work with you individually in a hands-on, step-by-step fashion, guiding you from start to finish of your painting. I’ll focus on aspects of the process including composition, drawing, color, paint handling, and in particular: VALUE!
There will be a limit of 10 students in the workshop.
Meeting Location: I’ll email you that as we get closer to the workshop date.
Materials: A materials list will be emailed to you once you’ve registered. In addition to sketching materials, paints, canvases or paper, and brushes, you will need to bring a portable easel.
Cost of workshop: $80. This amount is refundable in full up to 3 days prior to the workshop.
REGISTRATION is a two step process:
1) Send me an email and let me know you’re planning to register so I can put your name on the list.
2) Send me your payment on either PayPal (pay to email@example.com) or Venmo (pay to @Bruce-Katz-9) or by check. I’ll send you my address if you need it.
