Join me for this 1-day workshop where I’ll teach the process of painting a still life subject from life. I’ll work with you individually, in a hands-on, step-by-step fashion, guiding you from start to finish and focusing on aspects of the process. The workshop is geared for beginning and intermediate painters; those who haven’t begun painting and those who want to continue to develop their painting skills.
The workshop will emphasize the essential elements of creating compelling still life paintings: composition, drawing, color and value. The goal is that you’ll leave with the confidence and knowledge to continue to develop as a painter. I’ll start us off with a demonstration painting, following which you’ll set up and develop your own paintings for the remainder of the day.
The workshop will be held in my studio at Hunters Point Shipyard, San Francisco. It’s limited to a maximum of 6 students. Painters are welcome to paint in oil, acrylic, gouache or other water-based paints. A materials list will be sent to you upon registration in advance of the workshop. If you are just starting out in painting, I will provide the paints and brushes for you for this class, to give you the opportunity to experiment before deciding to invest in these materials.
Cost of workshop: $80. This amount is refundable in full up to 2 weeks prior to the workshop; after that the registration fee is non-refundable.
The fee for students who would like to sign up for a package of 4 workshops to be taken in 2017 is $270 ($67.50 per workshop), to be paid in advance of the first one). Please contact me through the Contact page on this site regarding registration.
